Classic Rock Jewelry Store
San Jose, CA

SIZE: 1,300 s.f.
DATE: 2000

The Classic Rock project was the initial tenant improvements in the Miraido Village residential/commercial complex in the heart of San Jose's historic Japantown. It consists of a showroom, offices, restroom and an employee's break area. At 1,300 sf this high-end jewelry store design exemplifies the refinement and simple, clean lines of Japanese architecture while allowing the merchandise to be the focal point of the shop.

A contemporary Asian theme is carried throughout the space in the octagonal-sided display cases and art work. Balance is achieved through the use of sharply focused accent lighting and warm, soft ambient lighting. Bold colors of purple and sea green on the walls are balanced with the warm mahogany of the custom casework. The very dark carpeted floor contrasts strongly with the very light-colored ceiling. This blending of contrasts in lighting, surfaces and colors allows for the successful marriage of Ying and Yang that we strive for to create a pleasant and invigorating environment. Client: Jeanne Katsuro.
